This weekend in the Augustinian the friars welcomed four local people into the Order as full members: Phil Conyngham, Michael Griffin, Ide Lenihan and John McGovern.
This ceremony (called “Affiliation”) is held in recognition of the service and support people give to their local Augustinian Community. Permission for an affiliation comes from the Prior General in Rome and the certificate recognizes that:
“In view of your longstanding love and dedication to the Augustinians of the Province of Ireland and to the Church Community of St Augustine’s Priory, Drogheda and your identification with the Augustinian spirit and way of life….we affiliate you as members of the Augustinian Order.”
The ceremony took place at the 12 and 1.15pm today’s Masses.
Our Provincial Fr. John Hennebry OSA presented the certificates at both Masses.
Certificates printed by Boyne Printing, The Mall, North Quay, Drogheda.
